
Rebeca Méndez received a Gold Award from Graphis, The International Journal of Visual Communication, for her poster design for OPEN: A Gathering of Open Source Users, Advocates and Developers. A workshop led by UCLA, D|MA professor Casey Reas.

Adam and I have been awarded an art residency at the Gunnar Gunnarsson Klaustri∂, located in Skriduklaustur, in the Fljotsdalur Valley, East Iceland. The residency takes place from June 20 through July 11, 2008. We will be continuing the About to Happen artwork series we began last year in Iceland and we will share our work with the community through lectures and exhibitions.
Alejandra Amenabar, Dean of the School of Design and the Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD) in Chile, and Dany Berczeller, Director of the Design Department at the UDD in Concepción, Chile, led their design week (5–9 November), and invited Rebeca Méndez and Adam Eeuwens to each give a lecture and together a workshop at the the UDD in Concepción, and to lecture at the UDD in Santiago de Chile. The workshop ‘Generating Something from Nothing—Creativity’ was imparted to a group of 26 undergraduate students from both cities. The workshop culminated in a series of 26 books that when lined up, the book covers spelled out the phrase by Charles and Ray Eames: ‘Eventualmente Todo Se Conecta’ (Eventually Everything Connects).
